Artist Statement/Biography
Rosemary’s mixed media and abstract paintings combine a love of history, travel and storytelling. Found objects – torn, discarded, covered in dirt, rusty – are folded into her work and carry individual pasts and memories. Sometimes these objects carry the emotions they were part of. A century-old postcard could convey a message of love in delicate script. The handwritten notations on a sheet of music made during a time of war might speak about a struggle for new interpretation. She uses her experience as a psychotherapist to help create and uncover the layers in her work, and finds her work as a psychotherapist an integral part of her process.
A self-taught artist for the past 25 years, Rosemary has worked in in several mediums – polymer clay, collage, mixed media, photography and abstract painting. Now living in Boston, Rosemary schedules frequent “art vacations” in the US and France to support her love of learning and for inspiration.
Rosemary’s work can be found at several businesses in the Boston area including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and CloudLock/Cisco and in several private collections. Rosemary is a student of international abstract artist Paolo Page, currently a faculty member at Tufts University and a student of polymer clay and mixed media artist Dayle Doroshow, Durfort, France.
